Here's how we like to work.

It starts with careful planning.

We will work through a process to identify and understand the key visitor messages and goals based on your master and interpretive plans. And we will help prioritize those that can be communicated best online.

Normally this is done with a large planning meeting that includes decision makers and content specialists (the working interpreters) and can last from several hours to a day in length. This meeting will:

  • Prioritize messages that are most relevant to a web site
  • Define potential approaches for the look and feel of the site
  • Layout a navigation and organization for the site. This is so important to a site's success.
  • Identify the key resources available for the site (content, photos, illustration)
  • Identify the primary contacts for in-progress and review of work, including content sign-off.
  • Develop an initial production schedule that both your park and ParkSites will follow to insure completion by deadline and on budget.

This meeting will be the starting point for the success of the project. Planning is critical if the interpretative site is to succeed as both a management tool and a source of information and inspiration.

Note - If you do not have a master or interpretive plan, we would be happy to recommend sources for these services.

What happens next?

Before we leave your area, we may start gathering images, converting some copy, doing original photography and roughing in the site structure. But however we start, the fun begins with developing a creative direction.
